Permethrin Cream 5% is prescribed to:

• Treat scabies, a condition caused by Sarcoptes scabiei mites.
• Address lice infestations in specific cases as directed by a healthcare provider.
• Relieve itching and irritation caused by mite and insect infestations.

How Does Permethrin Cream 5% Work

Permethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid that disrupts the nerve function of mites and lice, causing paralysis and death. By targeting both adult mites and their eggs, it effectively eliminates the infestation and prevents reinfestation.

How to Use Permethrin Cream 5%

• For Scabies:
  1. Wash and dry the skin thoroughly before application.
  2. Apply a thin layer of the cream over the entire body, from neck to toes, including soles of the feet. For infants and the elderly, also apply to the scalp, face, ears, and neck (avoiding the eyes and mouth).
  3. Leave the cream on for 8–14 hours, then wash off with soap and water.
  4. One application is usually sufficient, but a second application may be recommended after 7–14 days if needed.
• For Other Conditions: Use as directed by your healthcare provider.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:
