Generic Zofran is indicated to treat or prevent the nausea and vomiting that may occur after therapy with anticancer medicines (Chemotherapy) or radiation, or after surgery. Ordansetron is occasionally used to treat severe vomiting during pregnancy.

Generic Zofran is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past. Generic Zofran should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.

Generic for Zofran Dosage
The following information just highlights the general average dosage of GenericZofran The usual recommended dosage of Generic Zofran for prevention of nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy is one 8-milligram tablet or 2 teaspoonfuls of oral solution taken twice a day. For prevention of nausea due to radiation therapy the dose is generally one 8-milligram tablet or 2 teaspoonfuls of oral solution taken 3 times a day. For nausea prevention after surgery the dosage is two 8-milligram tablets or 4 teaspoonfuls of oral solution taken 1 hour before undergoing anesthesia.

Some of the most serious Generic Zofran side Effects include allergic reactions, difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of lips, irregular heartbeats, muscle cramps and uncontrollable movements.

Generic Zofran has not been studied in pregnant women. However, it has not been shown to cause birth defects or other problems in animal studies.

Studies do not indicate whether Generic Zofran passes into breast milk. Mothers who are taking this medicine and who wish to breast-feed should discuss this with their doctor.
Generic for Zofran and Pediatric
Generic Zofran has been tested in a limited number of children with cancer who are 4 years of age or older and after surgery in children 2 to 12 years of age. In effective doses, the medicine has not been shown to cause different side effects or problems
Generic for Zofran and Geriatric
Generic Zofran has been tested in a limited number of cancer patients 65 years of age or older and has not been shown to cause different side effects or problems in older people than it does in younger adults.
