Generic Zocor is indicated to block the body's ability to make cholesterol. Simvastatin (Generic Sporfloxacin) can help lower blood cholesterol for patients who are at risk of getting heart disease or a stroke. It is only for patients whose cholesterol level is not controlled by diet.

Generic Zocor is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
Generic Zocor should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.
any hormone disorder (such as diabetes, under-active thyroid)
blood salt imbalance
infection
kidney disease
liver disease
low blood pressure
muscle disorder or condition
recent surgery
seizures (convulsions)
severe injury

The usual recommended dosage of Generic Zocor is 20 milligrams once a day in the evening. For high cholesterol patients the dose will start at 40mg adjusted every 4 weeks. For those with severe kidney disease the dose should start at 5mg a day.

Some of the most serious Generic Zocor side Effects include constipation, diarrhea, gas, muscle weakness with rash, nausea, upper respiratory infection, upset stomach and general weakness.
