Generic Zestril is indicated to control high blood pressure (hypertension) by relaxing blood vessels. Lisinopril (Generic Zestril) is an antihypertensive (blood pressure lowering agent) known as an ACE inhibitor. High blood pressure levels can damage your kidneys, and may lead to a stroke or heart failure.

Generic Zestril is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
Generic Zestril should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.
autoimmune disease (such as lupus), or suppressed immune function
previous swelling of the tongue, face, or lips with difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, hoarseness, or tightening of the throat (angioedema)

The usual recommended dosage of Generic Zestril is designed in such a way so as to replace higher doses of either component. Dosages of the Lisinopril component range from 10 to 80 milligrams a day. Dosages of hydrochlorothiazide typically fall between 6.25 and 50 milligrams daily.
