Generic Name - Lidocaine Category - Anesthetic drug Indications Pain relief Xylocaine Contraindications and Drug Interactions Xylocaine is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past. Xylocaine Dosage The usual recommended dosage of Xylocaine for Cardiac Arrhythmias is 400 milligrams every 8 hours. The usual dose range is between 1,200 and 1,800 milligrams total per day divided into 3 doses. This medication can be taken in 2 doses a day with careful monitoring by your doctor. Xylocaine Adverse Effects Some of the most serious Xylocaine side Effects include chest pain, continued irregular heartbeats, difficulty breathing, wheezing, headache, seizures (convulsions) and swelling of the legs or feet. Xylocaine and Pregnancy Xylocaine has not been studied in pregnant women. Do consult your doctor and seek medical advice before using Xylocaine if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Xylocaine and Breastfeeding Small amounts of Xylocaine passes into breast milk. Many medicines that pass into breast milk in small amounts may be used safely while breast-feeding.
