Valsartan is indicated for the treatment high blood pressure. Hypertension is a common disorder in which the blood pressure remains abnormally high.Valsartan is also used to treat heart failure in people who cannot take angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. Genric Valsartan works by blocking the action of certain chemicals that tighten the blood vessels, so blood flows more smoothly.

The usual recommended dosage of Valsartan for hypertension is, 80 mg once daily when used as monotherapy in patients who are not volume-depleted. Valsartan may be used over a dose range of 80 mg to 320 mg daily, administered once-a-day.
