Generic Urso is indicated to dissolve gallstone in patients who do not want surgery or in those in whom surgery should to be avoided due to other medical problems. Urosodiol (Generic Urso) is also used to prevent the formation of gallstone in overweight patients who are losing weight very quickly. Urosodiol is a bile acid, naturally produced by the body that is stored in the gallbladder. It works by decreasing the production of cholesterol and by dissolving the cholesterol in bile so that it cannot form stones.
Generic for Urso Contraindications and Drug Interactions
Generic Urso is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
Generic Urso should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.
Acute Cholecystitis
Cholangitis
Bilary obstruction
Gallstone pancreatitis
Bilary-gastrointestinal fistula
Chronic liver disease
Variceal bleeding
There are a number of medications that interact with Generic Urso . It is important to take the doctor's counsel if you are taking any of the following.
Antacids
Cholestyramine
Clofibrate
Fenofibrate or gemfibrozil

The usual recommended dosage of Generic Urso for Gallstone disease is 8 to 10 milligrams per 2.2 pounds of body weight, divided into 2 or 3 doses.
