Generic Uni-dur is indicated to prevent and treat symptoms of bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It relieves cough, wheezing, shortness of breath and troubled breathing. Theophylline (Generic Uniphyl) works by opening up the bronchial tubes (air passages of the lungs) and increasing the flow of air through them.

The usual recommended dosage of Generic Uni-Durl Extended Release Tablets is one 150-milligram tablet every 12 hours. If found not effective, the doctor will gradually increase the dose up to a maximum of 600 milligrams per day.
