Indications

Generic Torsemide is indicated to reduce the amount of water in the body in certain conditions, such as congestive heart failure, severe liver disease (cirrhosis) or kidney disease. Generic Torsemide belongs to the group of medicines called loop diuretics. It works by acting on the kidneys to increase the flow of urine.
Generic for Torsemide Contraindications and Drug Interactions
Generic Torsemide is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or any component of this formulation. Generic Torsemide should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.
diabetes gout hearing problems irregular heart beat kidney disease liver disease low blood levels of potassium, chloride, sodium or magnesium previous heart attack small amount of urine, or difficulty passing urine
There are a number of medications that interact with Generic Torsemide. It is important to take the doctor's counsel if you are taking any of the following.
amphoteracin B antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen) cholestyramine cisplatin dofetilide heart medicines such as digoxin hormones such as cortisone, fludrocortisone, or hydrocortisone indomethacin lithium medicines for high blood pressure water pills
Generic for Torsemide Dosage
The usual recommended dosage of Generic Torsemide for hypertension is 5 milligrams once a day. If your blood pressure is still too high after 4 to 6 weeks, the doctor may increase the dose to 10 milligrams once a day. If that isn't sufficient, the doctor will add another drug to the regimen.
Generic for Torsemide Adverse Effects

Studies on this medicine have been done only in adult patients, and there is no specific information comparing use of Generic Torsemide in children with use in other age groups.
