Generic Tiazac is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). It is not a cure. Generic Tiazac (Diltiazem Hcl) may also be used to relieve angina (chest pain).
Generic for Tiazac Contraindications and Drug Interactions
Generic Tiazac is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or any component of this formulation.
Generic Tiazac should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.
Congestive heart failure
Heart rhythm problems
Kidney disease
Liver disease
Mental depression
Parkinson's disease or similar problems
Other heart or blood vessel disorders

Acetazolamide

The usual recommended dosage of Generic Tiazac for Angina is 120 mg to 180 mg once daily. Individual patients may respond to higher doses of up to 540 mg once daily. When necessary, titration should be carried out over 7 to 14 days.
Generic for Tiazac Adverse Effects
Some of the most serious Generic Tiazac side Effects include confusion, mental depression, fainting spells, lightheadedness,redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth, skin rash, itching, slow heartbeat and irregular heartbeat.

Generic for Tiazac and Pregnancy
Generic Tiazac have not been studied in pregnant women. However, studies in animals have shown that large doses of calcium channel blocking agents cause birth defects, prolonged pregnancy, poor bone development in the offspring, and stillbirth.

Generic Tiazac have not been reported to cause problems in nursing babies when passes into breast milk.

Although there is no specific information comparing use of this medicine in children with use in other age groups, it is not expected to cause different side effects or problems in children than it does in adults.
Generic for Tiazac and Geriatric
Elderly people may be especially sensitive to the effects of calcium channel blocking agents. This may increase the chance of side effects during treatment. A lower starting dose may be required.
