Generic Tequin kills certain bacteria or stops their growth. Generic Tequin (Gatifloxacin) is used to treat bronchitis, kidney and other urinary tract infections, pneumonia, sinusitis, and certain sexually transmitted diseases.

Generic for Tequin Contraindications and Drug Interactions

Generic Tequin is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or any component of this formulation.

Generic Tequin should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.

Brain or spinal cord disease
Diabetes mellitus
Diarrhea
Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase activity defect
Heart disease

Aminophylline
Oxtriphylline
Theophylline
Amiodarone
Astemizole
Bepridil

Generic for Tequin Dosage

The usual recommended dosage of Generic Tequin for bacterial infections is 200 to 400 mg every twenty four hours for seven to fourteen days, depending on the medical problems being treated. Gonorrhea and certain bladder infection are usually treated with a single oral dose of 400mg.

Generic for Tequin Adverse Effects

Some of the most serious Generic Tequin side Effects include confusion, difficulty breathing, irregular heartbeat, palpitations or chest pain, joint, muscle or tendon pain and seizures.

Generic for Tequin and Pregnancy

Studies have not been done in humans. However, use is not recommended during pregnancy since fluoroquinolones have been reported to cause bone development problems in young animals.

Some of the fluoroquinolones are known to pass into human breast milk. Since fluoroquinolones have been reported to cause bone development problems in young animals, breast-feeding is not recommended during treatment with these medicines.

Generic for Tequin and Pediatric

Use is not recommended for infants or children since fluoroquinolones have been shown to cause bone development problems in young animals. However, your doctor may choose to use one of these medicines if other medicines cannot be used.

These medicines have been tested and, in effective doses, have not been shown to cause different side effects or problems in older people than they do in younger adults.
