Generic Tenormin is a combination of two drugs used to lower blood pressure. Generic Tenormin (Atenolol) is a beta-blocker and chlorthalidone is a diuretic ('water pill'). Atenolol; chlorthalidone is used to control, but not cure, high blood pressure (hypertension).

The usual recommended dosage of Generic Tenormin for hypertension is 50 milligrams a day in 1 dose, alone or with a diuretic. Full effects should be seen in 1 to 2 weeks. Dosage may be increased to a maximum of 100 milligrams per day in one dose.
