Indications
Diabetic gastric stasis.
Generic Reglan is indicated in the treatment of diabetic gastric stasis (slow movement of the stomach), which causes symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, decreased appetite, and prolonged fullness after eating. Metoclopramide (Generic Reglan) increases the rate at which the stomach and intestines move during digestion. It also increases the rate at which the stomach empties into the intestines and increases the strength of the lower esophageal sphincter (the muscle between the stomach and esophagus).
Generic for Reglan Contraindications and Drug Interactions
Generic Reglan is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
Generic Reglan should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.
Kidney disease
a history of depression
parkinson's disease
diabetes or
had recently a stomach surgery.
There are a number of medications that interact with Generic Reglan. It is important to take the doctor's counsel if you are taking any of the following.
Digoxin
cyclosporine
tetracycline
levodopa
insulin
narcotic pain reliever
clidinium, dicyclomine, hyoscyamine or propantheline

The usual recommended dosage of Generic Reglan for Gastro esophageal Reflux is 10 milligrams to 15 milligrams of Reglan, up to 4 times a day, 30 minutes before each meal and at bedtime, depending upon the symptoms being treated and the effectiveness of the dose. Treatment usually lasts no longer than 12 weeks.

Some of the most serious Generic Reglan side Effects include breast enlargement in men or women, or production of breast-milk in women who are not breast-feeding, change in the way you walk (shuffling feet), difficulty moving, speaking or swallowing, drooling, lip smacking, or rapid movements of the tongue and involuntary or uncontrollable movements of the eyes, head, arms and legs.
