Generic Premarin is indicated for the replacement of estrogens. Estrogen, a hormone produced by the body is needed for normal growth and development of female sex organs and for functions such as bearing children. During menopause, the body's production of estrogen is decreased. Estrogen replacement is used for symptoms associated with menopause including feelings of warmth in the face, neck and chest and the sudden intense episodes of heat and sweating known as hot flashes. Generic Premarin is also used in the treatment of breast cancer in postmenopausal women and breast and prostate cancer in men.
Generic for Premarin Contraindications and Drug Interactions
Generic Premarin is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.

Undiagnosed abnormal genital bleeding
Estrogen-dependent neoplasia
Deep vein thrombosis
Pulmonary embolism
