Generic Phenytoin is an anticonvulsant used to treat seizures in certain types of epilepsy. Phenytoin (Generic Phenytoin) reduces the maximal activity of brain stem centers responsible for the tonic phase of tonic-clonic (grand mal) seizures.
Generic for Phenytoin Contraindications and Drug Interactions
Generic Phenytoin is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class including phenytoin or other hydantoins or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
Generic Phenytoin should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.
Recurrent infections chronic neurologic disease chronic liver disease or cirrhosis chronic kidney disease recurrent infections.

Generic for Phenytoin Dosage
The following information just highlights the general average dosage of GenericPhenytoin The usual recommended dosage of Generic Phenytoin for Seizures is 100 mg (125 mg of the suspension) t.i.d.; adjust dosage at 7- to 10-day intervals until seizures are controlled.
Maintenance: 300-400 mg/day, although 600 mg/day (625 mg of the suspension) may be required in some.
Generic for Phenytoin Adverse Effects
