Generic for Norvir* may reduce the amount of HIV in the blood and increase the number of CD4 cells (T-cells) in the blood. Generic for Norvir* is used in combination with other drugs to treat the HIV virus. Ritonavir will not cure or prevent HIV infection or AIDS.

The initial dosage of Norvir* ranges from 50 to 100 milligrams once a day. The doctor may gradually increase the dosage up to 400 milligrams a day.
