Indications
Migraine attack.
Generic Maxalt is indicated to relieve a migraine attack that starts with or without aura (a peculiar feeling or visual disturbance that warns you of an attack). Rizatriptan works by causing vazoconstriction (narrowing) of arteries and veins that supply blood to your head.
Generic for Maxalt Contraindications and Drug Interactions
Generic Maxalt is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
Generic Maxalt should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.
bowel disease or colitis
diabetes
family history of heart disease
fast or irregular heartbeat
headaches that are different from your usual migraine
heart or blood vessel disease, angina (chest pain), or previous heart attack
high blood pressure
high cholesterol
history of stroke, transient ischemic attacks (TIAs or "mini-strokes"), or intracranial bleeding
kidney disease
liver disease
There are a number of medications that interact with Generic Maxalt. It is important to take the doctor's counsel if you are taking any of the following.
Lithium
Meperidine
Propranolol
St.john's wort
tryptophan

The usual recommended dosage of Generic Maxalt for migraine attack is one 5- or 10-milligram tablet. Doses should be spaced at least 2 hours apart. One should not take no more than 30 milligrams a day.

Some of the most serious Generic Maxalt side Effects include chest, neck, or throat pain or tightness, dizziness or faintness, fast or irregular heart beat, palpitations, feeling of chest heaviness or pressure, severe stomach pain and cramping and bloody diarrhea.
