Generic Lariam is indicated to prevent and treat malaria, a red blood cell infection, transmitted by the bite of a mosquito. Mefloquine (Generic Lariam) is an antimalarial agent.

Generic Lariam is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
Generic Lariam should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.
chizophrenia, or psychosis (losing touch with reality) eye disease heart disease liver disease seizures (epilepsy or convulsions)

Generic Lariam should not be taken on an empty stomach and should be administered with at least 8 o (240 mL) of water.

Some of the most serious Generic Lariam side Effects include blurred vision, or change in vision, fainting spells, fever or chills, hearing problems, headaches, confusion, or other mental changes, joint or muscle aches, redness and blistering and peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth.
