Generic Isoptin is indicated for the treatment of arrhythmias, high blood pressure and angina (chest pain). Arrhythmias are abnormal heart rhythms that causes the heart to pump less effectively. Hypertension is a common disorder in which the blood pressure remains abnormally high. Verapamil relaxes the blood vessels, so that heart does not have to pump as hard. It also increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart to control chest pain.
