Generic Name - Isosorbide mononitrate
Category - Antianginal
Indications
Angina
Generic Imdur is indicated for the treatment of angina. Angina occurs when the arteries and veins become constricted and sufficient oxygen does not reach the heart. Isosorbide Mononitrate (Generic Imdur) works by releasing a chemical called nitric oxide which has the effect of making the veins and arteries relax and widen (dilate). This increases the space within the blood vessels and therefore reduces the resistance within the blood vessels, which makes it easier for the heart to pump blood around the body.
