Generic Hyzaar, a combination of two drugs (Losartan-Hydrochlorothiazide) is indicated to lower blood pressure. Losartan controls high blood pressure (hypertension) by relaxing blood vessels. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic. It increases the amount of water and salt you lose in your urine. Hydrochlorothiazide is used to lower blood pressure and to decrease edema (swelling). By lowering blood pressure, losartan-hydrochlorothiazide can help reduce your risk of having damage to your kidneys, heart, or other organs.

The usual recommended dosage of Generic Hyzaar for Hypertension is one 50-12.5 tablet per day. If the blood pressure does not respond to this dose, after about 3 weeks the doctor may increase the dose to two 50-12.5 tablets once daily, or one 100-25 tablet a day.
