Fluoxetine is used in the treatment of mental depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and panic disorder. It is also used in the treatment for bipolar disorder together with olanzapine (Zyprexa). Patients, who do not respond positively to the treatment for depression symptoms in the before attempts are administered with Fluoxetine.

Common side effects may include allergic reactions like rashes or hives, difficulty in breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, inability to sit still, restlessness, chills or fever and joint or muscle pain.

Using Fluoxetine along with any of the following medications may cause additional sleepiness. Cold or allergy drugs, sedatives, narcotic pain relievers, sleeping pills, muscle relaxants and drugs treating seizures or anxiety.
