Generic Femara is indicated for the treatment of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women with disease progression after antiestrogen therapy. Breast cancer is common among women where malignant cells grow in the breast. Letrozole (Generic Femara) works by blocking the formation the hormone estrogen, required for breast cancers.
Generic for Femara Contraindications and Drug Interactions
Generic Femara is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past .
Though there are no known interactions between letrozole and other medication, make sure to tell your doctor if you are taking any drugs containing estrogen(this may include some herbal products and birth control pills). Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines during treatment with Letrozole.
Generic for Femara Dosage
The usual recommended dosage of Generic Femara for breast cancer is one 2.5 mg tablet administered once a day, without regard to meals. Treatment with Femara should continue until tumor progression is evident.
