Indications
Bacterial infections
Generic Duricef is indicated to treat different types of bacterial infections such as bronchitis, tonsillitis, ear infections, and urinary tract infections. Cefadroxil (Generic Duricef) will prevent the bacteria from forming an adequate and pretective wall. This results in instability and subsequent death of the bacteria.
Generic for Duricef Contraindications and Drug Interactions
Generic Duricef is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
Generic Duricef should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.
Kidney disease
gastrointestinal (digestive) disease
There are a number of medications that interact with Generic Duricef. It is important to take the doctor's counsel if you are taking any of the following.
Probenecid
diuretic pills
warfarin or
another antibiotic

The usual recommended dosage of Generic Duricef for Urinary Tract Infections is a total of 1 to 2 grams per day in a single dose or 2 smaller doses. For all other urinary tract infections, the usual dosage is a total of 2 grams per day taken in 2 doses. For Throat Infections--Strep Throat and Tonsillitis, a total of 1 gram per day should be used in a single dose or 2 smaller doses for 10 days.
Generic for Duricef Adverse Effects
Some of the most serious Generic Duricef side Effects include difficulty breathing, wheezing, dizziness, fever or chills, sore throat, headache, reduced amount of urine,
redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin and convulsions.

Generic for Duricef and Pregnancy
In the absence of adequate studies, use of Generic Duricef by pregnant women is recommended only with due medical consultations.
