Indications
High blood pressure.
Generic Cozaar is indicated to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and to reduce the risk of stroke. Losartan (Generic Cozaar) is in a class of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Generic Cozaar works by constricting (narrowing) the blood vessels (veins and arteries) blocking the action of a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten. As a result, losartan relaxes blood vessels. This lowers blood pressure.

Generic Cozaar is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
Generic Cozaar should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.

Kidney disease
having a salt restricted diet
taking a potassium supplement.

Some of the most serious Generic Cozaar side Effects include confusion, dizziness, lightheadedness or fainting spells, decreased amount of urine passed, decreased sexual function, fast or uneven heart beat, palpitations, or chest pain, difficulty breathing or swallowing, hoarseness, or tightening of the throat and swelling of face, lips, tongue.
