Indications
Arrhythmias
Cordarone is indicated for the treatment of arrhythmias. Arrhythmias are abnormal heart rhythms that causes heart to pump less effectively. Amiodarone (Cordarone) works by relaxing an overactive heart.
Cordarone Contraindications and Drug Interactions
Cordarone is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
Cordarone should not be taken by patients who have history of following ailment conditions
Cardiogenic shock
Marked sinus bradycardia
Second- or third-degree AV block unless a functioning pacemaker is available

Cordarone Dosage

The usual recommended loading dosage of Cordarone for arrhythmias is 800 to 1,600 mg/day for 1 to 3 weeks (occasionally longer) until initial therapeutic response occurs. Administration of Cordarone in divided doses with meals is suggested for total daily doses of 1,000 mg or higher, or when gastrointestinal intolerance occurs.
Cordarone Adverse Effects
Some of the most serious Cordarone side Effects include appetite increase or decrease, blue-gray coloring of the skin, blurred vision, seeing blue-green halos, increased sensitivity of the eyes to light, cough, or difficulty breathing, difficulty walking, dry or puffy skin or eyes, intolerance to heat or cold and nervousness.

Cordarone and Pregnancy
There are no adequate or well-controlled studies to indicate the safety and effectiveness of Cordarone in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
Cordarone and Breastfeeding
Cordarone is excreted in human milk and may cause unwanted effects on nursing babies. Breastfeeding mothers should consult doctor before taking this medication.
Cordarone and Pediatric
The safety and effectiveness of Cordaronein pediatric patients have not been established.
Cordarone and Geriatric
Studies do not indicate any overall difference in the safety and effectiveness of Cordarone with relation to age.
