Generic Combivent is indicated for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is comprised of two related diseases : chronic bronchitis and emphysema. In both the diseases the flow of air through the airways and out of the lungs is obstructed. Albuterol (Generic Combivent) works by acting on beta 2 receptors in the lungs. Stimulation of these receptors causes the muscles in the airways to relax, allowing the airways to open.

Generic for Combivent Contraindications and Drug Interactions

Generic Combivent is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.

Geneic Combivent is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to soya lecithin or related food products such as soybean and peanut.

The usual recommended dosage of Generic Combivent for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is two inhalations four times a day. Patients may take additional inhalations as required; however, the total number of inhalations should not exceed 12 in 24 hours.

Some of the most serious Generic Combivent side Effects include difficulty breathing, wheezing, dizziness, chest pain, fast heartbeat (pounding), or irregular heartbeat, headache (severe), muscle cramps, numbness in fingers or toes, skin rash or hives and swelling of the lips, tongue or face.
