Clonidine is indicated for the treatment high blood pressure. Hypertension is a common disorder in which the blood pressure remains abnormally high. Clonidine works by controlling nerve impulses along certain nerve pathways. This relaxes the blood vessels so that blood passes through them more easily thus lowering blood pressure.
Clonidine Contraindications and Drug Interactions
Clonidineis contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past. Clonidineis contraindicated during the acute recovery period after a myocardial infarction.
