Clindamycin is indicated to treat acne and skin infections. Clindamycin (Clindamycin) works by preventingbacteria from producing proteins essential to the bacterial cell.Without these proteins the bacteria cannot grow, replicate and increase in numbers. By controlling bacterial numbers, the inflammation of the sebaceous glands is brought under control and the skin is allowed to heal.

Clindamycin Contraindications and Drug Interactions

Clindamycin is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
Clindamycin should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.

Kidney disease
Lever disease
Stomach or intestinal disease.

There are a number of medications that interact with Clindamycin.It is important to take the doctor's counsel if you are taking any of the following.

Erythromycin
Drugs containing kaolin and pectin
Medicines for pain
Oral contraceptives
Chloramphenicol

Clindamycin Dosage

The usual recommended dosage of Clindamycin for serious infections is 150 to 300 mg every 6 hours. For more severe infections the dosage is 300 to 450 mg every 6 hours.
