Generic Name - Cefixime Category - Anti-Biotics Indications Bacterial infections Cefixime Contraindications and Drug Interactions Cefixime is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or any component of this formulation. Cefixime Dosage The usual recommended dosage of Cefixime for infections is 400 milligrams daily. This may be taken as a single 400-milligram tablet once a day or as a 200-milligram tablet every 12 hours. If you have kidney disease, the dose may be lower. Cefixime Adverse Effects The most common Side Effects of Cefixime are abdominal pain, gas, indigestion, loose stools, mild diarrhea, nausea, vomiting Some of the most serious Cefixime side Effects include difficulty breathing, wheezing, dizziness, fever or chills, sore throat, pain or difficulty passing urine and redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth. Cefixime and Pregnancy Cefixime studies have not been done in humans. Studies in rabbits have shown that Cefixime may increase the risk of miscarriages and cause other problems.
