Casodex is an antiandrogen. Bicalutamide (Generic Casodex) works in the body by preventing the actions of androgens (male hormones) such as testosterone. The presence of this harmone (androgen) can lead to growth of increased testosterone. This is because Testosterone binds to the androgen receptors on the prostate cells. Generic Casodex prevents testosterone from binding to the androgen receptors on the prostate cells, starves prostate cells of testosterone which in turn prevents them from growing.

Generic Casodex is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
