Generic Carbidopa-Levodopa is indicated for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's disease occurs as a result of the loss of dopamine-producing cells in the brain. Carbidopa-Levodopa works by correcting the imbalance of these chemicals, thus reducing the symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
Generic for Carbidopa-levodopa Contraindications and Drug Interactions
Generic Carbidopa-Levodopa is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.

The usual recommended dosage of Generic Carbidopa-Levodopa for Parkinson's disease is,
For clients not receiving levodopa, initially 1 tablet of 10 mg carbidopa/100 mg levodopa t.i.d.-q.i.d. or 25 mg carbidopa/100 mg levodopa t.i.d.; then, increased by 1 tablet q 1-2 days until a total of 8 tablets/day is taken.
For clients receiving levodopa, dosage should be about 25% of prior levodopa dosage (levodopa dosage is discontinued 8 hr before carbidopa/levodopa is initiated); then, adjust dosage as required.
Generic for Carbidopa-levodopa Adverse Effects
Some of the most serious Generic Carbidopa-Levodopa side Effects include difficulty passing urine, dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting spells, fast or irregular heartbeat (palpitations), mental depression, mood changes such as aggressive behavior or hallucinations, stomach pain, uncontrolled movements of the mouth, head, hands, feet.
