Generic Calan is indicated to treat irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias) and high blood pressure. Verapamil (Generic Calan) relaxes your blood vessels so your heart does not have to pump as hard. Further, it increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart to control chest pain (angina).

However, 40 mg three times a day may be warranted in patients who may have an increased response to Verapamil (decreased hepatic function, elderly, etc).
