Indications
Treat high blood pressure and angina.
Generic Caduet is a combination of two drugs Amolodipine-Atorvastatin, indicated to lower blood pressure and angina. Amlodipine is a calcium-channel blocker used to lower high blood pressure (hypertension). It also relieves different types of chest pain (angina). Atorvastatin blocks the body's ability to make cholesterol. Atorvastatin can help lower blood cholesterol for patients who are at risk of getting heart disease or a stroke. It is only for patients whose cholesterol level is not controlled by diet. This medicine is not a cure.
Generic Caduet Contraindications and Drug Interactions
Generic Caduet is contraindicated in patients, with a prior history of hypersensitivity to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drug or any component of this formulation.
Generic Caduet should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.
- heart problems, including heart failure or aortic stenosis
- liver disease
- kidney disease
- an alcohol problem
- any hormone disorder (such as diabetes, under-active thyroid)
- blood salt imbalance
- infection
- low blood pressure
- muscle disorder or condition
- recent surgery
- seizures (convulsions)
- severe injury
There are a number of medications that interact with Generic Caduet. It is important to take the doctor's counsel if you are taking any of the following.
- alcohol
-containing beverages
- antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen)
- barbiturates
- antacids
- birth control pills
- bosentan
- carbamazepine
- danazol
- digoxin
- grapefruit juice
- herbal or dietary supplements such as ginger, gingko biloba, ginseng, hawthorn, ma huang (ephedra), melatonin, St. John's wort, went yeast
- imatinib, STI-571
- local anesthetics or general anesthetics
- medicines for fungal infections
- medicines for high blood pressure
- medicines for treating HIV infections
- medicines that suppress your immune response
- medicines to lower cholesterol or triglycerides
- medicine used to stop early pregnancy
- medicines for prostate problems
- medicines for seizures
- nefazodone
- nicardipine
- rifampin, rifabutin, or rifapentine
- pioglitazone
- some antibiotics
- some medicines for heart-rhythm problems
- some medicines for depression or mental problems
- water pills (diuretics)
- yohimbine
- zafirlukast
- zileuton
Generic Caduet and Pregnancy
Generic Cadue is not recommended for pregnant women. Do not use Generic Caduet if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment.
Generic Cytoxan and Pregnancy
Generic Cytoxan should not be taken during pregnancy. It may cause several birth defects to the unborn baby. Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
Generic Caduet and Breast-feeding
It is not known whether Generic Caduet passes into breast milk or not. Do not take Caduet without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Generic Caduet and Pediatric
The safety and effectiveness of Generic Caduet in pediatric patients have not been established.
