Generic Atacand is indicated to treat high blood pressure. High blood pressure adds to the workload of the heart and arteries. If this continues for a long time, the arteries may not function properly. Candesartan (Generic Atacand) works by blocking the action of certain substance in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten. Generic Atacand relaxes and expands the blood vessels allowing pressure to drop.

Generic Atacand is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
Generic Atacand should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.
Kidney problems
Congestive Heart failure.

The usual recommended dosage of Generic Atacand for hypertension is 16 mg once daily when it is used as monotherapy in patients who are not volume depleted. Generic Atacand can be administered once or twice daily with total daily doses ranging from 8 mg to 32 mg.

Some of the most serious Generic Atacand side Effects include confusion, dizziness, lightheadedness or fainting spells, decreased amount of urine passed, fast or uneven heart beat or palpitations, difficulty breathing or swallowing, hoarseness or tightening of the throat.

Generic for Atacand and Pregnancy
