However, it doesn't cures Parkinson's disease, rather minimizes and reduces the frequency of symptoms such as tremors. Trihexyphenidyl (Generic Artane) works by correcting the chemical imbalance that causes Parkinson's disease.

Generic Artane is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.

Stomach/intestinal obstructive disease

Generic for Artane Dosage

As initial therapy for Parkinson's, 1 mg of Generic Artane in tablet or elixir form may be administered the first day. The dose may then be increased by 2 mg increments at intervals of three to five days, until a total of 6 to 10 mg is given daily. The total daily dose will depend upon what is found to be the optimal level.

Geriatric patients were found to be more sensitive to the effects of Generic Artane. Agitation, confusion, disorientation, hallucinations, memory loss and mental changes are more likely to occur in elderly patients.
