Generic Aricept is indicated to provide relief from early symptoms in people with mild to moderate Alzheimer disease. When someone has Alzheimer's disease, the brain chemical known as Acetylcholine is produced in small amounts. This chemical transmits messages between brain cells (a neurotransmitter).Normally, there is a repeated cycle in the brain in which Acetylcholine is made, transmits messages and broken down by a special enzyme.Generic Aricept aims to prevent the last part of this cycle so that acetylcholine is not broken and there is more acetylcholine available in the brain to carry messages between the brain cells.
Generic for Aricept Contraindications and Drug Interactions
Generic Aricept is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or piperidine derivatives or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
Generic Aricept should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.
Asthma
Seizure disorder
Heart rhythm problem
Gastro-intestinal ulcers
Regular use of anti-inflammatory medications.
