Alphagan P O is indicated for the treatment of open -angle Glaucoma. Brimonidine reduces the pressure in the eyes and thus minimizes the chances of damage to the optic nerve, preventing further vision loss.

Alphagan P OContraindications and Drug Interactions

Alphagan is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
Alphagan P O should not be taken by patients who has severe problems with their heart, liver or kidney.

There are a number of medications that interact with Alphagan. It is important to take the doctor's counsel if you are taking any of the following.

Monoamine oxidase inhibitor
Epinephrine
Beta-blockers
Barbiturates
Opiates
Sedatives

Alphagan P ODosage

The following information just highlights the general average dosage of Alphagan PO,
The recommended dose is one drop of Alphagan PO in the affected eye(s) three times daily, approximately 8 hours apart.

Alphagan P OAdverse Effects

Some of the most serious Alphagan PO side Effects include altered taste, anxiety, bleeding in the eye, contracted pupils, depression, discharge from the eye, dry nose, fainting, high blood pressure, inflamed iris and insomnia.

The safety and efficacy of Alphagan P O during pregnancy has not been established

Alphagan P Oand Breastfeeding

There are no studies to indicate the excretion of Alphagan in human milk. However caution need to be exercised before nursing infant.

The safety and efficacy of Alphagan in pediatric patients has not been established.

There are no studies to indicate the effect of Alphagan P O in relation to the age in geriatric patients.
