Generic Afeditab is used as a Calcium channel blocker. Calcium is involved in blood vessel contraction. By blocking calcium, Nifedipine (Generic Afeditab) relaxes and widens the blood vessels. This relaxing effect allows an increased amount of blood flow into the heart. Generic Afeditab helps in treating angina pectoris (chest pain) and also helps to reduce blood pressure.
Generic for Afeditab Contraindications and Drug Interactions
Generic Afeditab is contraindicated in persons who have an allergic reaction to nifedipine or to similar medicines (such as verapamil, calan, cardizem, Lotrel, Plendil). If you have a heart condition called aotic stenosis (narrowing of a valve in your heart), it is recommended to talk to your doctor.
Generic Afeditab should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment conditions.
Kidney disease
Liver disease
Another disease of the heart or blood vessels such as sick sinus syndrome, aortic stenosis, heart failure, low blood pressure or coronary artery disease.

Afeditab Immediate Release capsules therapy should be initiated with the 10 mg capsule. The starting dose is one 10 mg capsule, swallowed whole, 3 times/day. The usual effective dose range is 10-20 mg 3 times daily.
Afeditab Extended Release capsules therapy for either hypertension or angina should be initiated with 30 or 60 mg once daily.
