Generic Actonel is indicated for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Risedronate (Generic Actonel) is also used in the treatment of Paget's disease, a condition in which patches of bones becomes softened and enlarged.
Generic for Actonel Contraindications and Drug Interactions
Generic Actonel is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
Generic Actonel should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment condition.
Hypocalcemia
There are a number of medications that interact with Generic Actonel. It is important to take the doctor's counsel if you are taking any of the following.
Antacid
Aspirin

Some of the most serious Generic Actonel side Effects include black or tarry stools, eye inflammation, pain, or vision change, low levels of calcium in the blood (may cause symptoms like confusion, severe fatigue or weakness) and pain or difficulty when swallowing.
