Generic Canasa is indicated for the treatment of active ulcerative colitis. Mesalamine (Generic Canasa) works inside the bowel by helping to reduce inflammation and other symptoms.

Generic Canasa is contraindicated in patients, who are hypersensitive to this drug, medications that belong to this class of drugs or had an allergic reaction to it in the past. re indicated for the treatment of active ulcerative proctitis.
Generic Canasa should not be taken by patients who have a history of the following ailment condition.

The usual recommended dosage of Generic Canasa for ulcerative colitis is one 500 mg rectal suppository 2 times daily with possible increase to 3 times daily if inadequate response at two weeks. The suppository should be retained for one to three hours or longer, if possible, to achieve the maximum benefit.
Generic for Canasa Adverse Effects
Some of the most serious Generic Canasa side Effects include bloody diarrhea,
chest pain, difficulty breathing, wheezing, fever, pain or difficulty passing urine, skin rash or itching, unusual weakness or tiredness and yellowing of the eyes or skin.

Generic Canasa is known to be substantially excreted by the kidney, and the risk of toxic reactions to this drug may be greater in patients with impaired renal function. Because elderly patients are more likely to have decreased renal function, it may be useful to monitor renal function.
